Timex Group USA, Inc. (formerly known as Timex Corporation until 2008), is an American Watchmaker and a subsidiary of Timex Group B.V., headquartered in Middlebury, Connecticut. The company is the current day successor of the Waterbury Clock Company founded in 1854 in nearby Waterbury, Connecticut.
Watches with the Timex brand name were first used in 1946 with a small shipment of nurses' watches. The X suffix was used to invoke a sense of technological advancement. Watches were not sold under the name Timex in the U.S until 1950. Over the next three decades, Timex watches were sold through a series of advertisements which emphasized durability by putting watches through torture tests, such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking". Sales increased through the involvement of TV newscaster-turned-spokesman John Cameron Swayze.
Today, Timex Group B.V.'s products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland, often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany. The group has operations in a number of countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

美国国家航空即太空总署航天员Dr Daniel Barry佩戴TIMEX（天美时） Data Link手表分别在1996年太空穿梭机飞行中环绕地球142周年，并且在1999年完成152周旅程。
